Fire resilient insulation products are most commonly made from rockwool as it offers excellent fire performance ratings. As rockwool contains stone wool fibres it is very resistant to heat, making it non-combustible and enabling it to withstand temperatures of up to 1000 degrees. Rockwool is designed to meet BCA fire requirement and has a Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) rating for bush fire prone areas. Installing fire resilient insulation means that the spread of a fire can be controlled and contained, especially for walls that separate adjacent dwellings.
