Timber frame: window already installed

Summarised from the pro clima CONTEGA EXO, Installation instructions (Australia, Version 97948 dated 9 Oct 2026). Work from the full guide: it has the drawings and every detail. Open the full guide (PDF)

1Stick the tape to the frame
  • Remove one of the release film strips on the smooth membrane side.
  • Place the full width of the adhesive strip onto the window frame and stick the first reveal side.
2Fold the corners
  • Fold the tape in the corner area, keeping the windtight adhesion to the window uninterrupted, then continue around the rest of the frame.
  • When finished, cut the tape allowing an overlap of approx. 5 cm.
3Stick it to the reveal
  • Remove the second release film strip from the smooth membrane side and stick the tape all around the reveal.
  • Rub firmly with the PRESSFIX tool to secure the bond.
4Join the ends
  • Remove the outer release film strip along a short length, as ORCON F will not stick to the release film.
  • Apply an approx. 5 mm thick line of ORCON F between the overlapping ends and place the tape onto it.

Timber frame: tape fitted to the window first

Summarised from the Pro Clima Australia, Solitex Extasana Video #5: Window Installation with Screw-Fixed Frames (YouTube, 19 May 2026), shown above. Watch it for every detail.

1Set up the window
  • Place the window frame on stable trestles with the outside facing up.
  • The bottom of the window is always where the weep holes are.
2Tape around the frame
  • Start on the left side and stick CONTEGA EXO clockwise around the frame.
  • Leave a 55 mm flap of tape at each corner, to fold later into a continuous seal.
3Seal the overlap
  • Where you return to the start, overlap the final section by at least 50 mm, with TESCON DUPLEX double sided tape behind the overlap.
  • Lap the joint on the shingle principle so no water stands on the seam.
4Install the window
  • Hold the tape flaps back on the frame with masking tape; on the top side the flaps face inwards so the pockets open at the bottom.
  • Check that the sill is plumb and one side is at a right angle to it, levelling with window packers.
  • Fix the window with full-thread window installation screws, drilling a pilot hole into the timber frame.
5Connect to the wall membrane
  • Stick CONTEGA EXO onto the weather-resistive barrier with the flap facing upwards, so the pocket opens downwards and holds no water.
  • Finish with a strip of TESCON EXTORA over the top so no water stands on the CONTEGA EXO.

Masonry or concrete: window already installed

Summarised from the pro clima CONTEGA EXO, Installation instructions (Australia, Version 97948 dated 9 Oct 2026). Work from the full guide: it has the drawings and every detail. Open the full guide (PDF)

1Stick the tape to the frame
  • Remove one release film strip on the smooth membrane side, place the full width of the adhesive strip onto the frame and stick the first reveal side.
  • Rub firmly with the PRESSFIX tool.
  • Remove the inner release film strip on the first reveal side as far as the first corner.
2Fold the corners
  • Fold the tape in the corner area with uninterrupted windtight adhesion to the window, then continue around the frame.
  • Cut the tape allowing an overlap of approx. 5 cm.
3Bond it to the reveal
  • Apply a line of ORCON F to the reveal in a compact zig-zag pattern.
  • Remove the inner release film all the way around and place the tape onto the adhesive, without pressing the adhesive completely flat.
4Join the ends
  • Apply an approx. 5 mm thick line of ORCON F between the overlapping ends and place the tape onto it, again without pressing it flat.
5Get it ready for plaster
  • Remove the outer release film on the fleece side all the way around, as plaster will not adhere to it.
  • CONTEGA EXO can then be plastered over.
