Trade Select QuickTape - Brane VHP Insulation Tape

Trade Select by Ametalin QuickTape™ is a reliable, high performance woven polymer fabric tape coated with a cold weather acrylic adhesive, perfectly suited to quickly and easily join, seal and repair overlapped edges and penetrations of our Ametalin Range and in particular, demanding fabrics such as airtight vapour barriers and permeable membranes.

Trade Select QuickTape™ benefits from being release liner free, hand tearable and an aggressive initial tack for easier, faster and less labour intensive fixings so time spent installing membranes can be reduced by as much as a third.

Trade Select QuickTape™ has the thickest premium grade adhesive in our range which provides an excellent initial tack with superior adhesive and cohesive holding power. Trade Select QuickTape™ shows performance and durability over a range of temperatures and environmental conditions.

How to Use Trade Select QuickTape

  1. Ensure that the surfaces to be adhered are clean, dry and free from dirt, grease, oil and other contaminants.
  2. Ensure Trade Select QuickTape™ is centred on the join.
  3. Apply tape, ensuring that the maximum surface contact is achieved by allowing the tape to conform to the contours in product. Apply firm pressure with hand but a tape applicator is preferred.
  4. Whenever possible, apply the tape to joins that have a firm backing.
  5. Taping of joins is a method of sealing joins only, and is not a suitable substitute for mechanical fixing in situations where there may be stress or pressure on the join (e.g. wind loading, etc.). In such cases, a more secure method of securing the join must be considered.

Step by step

Summarised from the Trade Select QuickTape, Technical Data Sheet: General Tape Applications (TPM-45937-2, 2025). Work from the full guide: it has the drawings and every detail. Open the full guide (PDF)

1Prepare the surface
  • Make sure the surfaces to be adhered are clean, dry and free from dirt, grease, oil and other contaminants.
  • QuickTape can be used on concrete, timber, aluminium and steel surfaces that are clean and smooth.
  • Apply within the application temperature range of 10°C to 40°C.
2Centre the tape on the join
  • Centre QuickTape on the join for maximum adhesion to both surfaces.
3Apply and press down
  • Let the tape conform to the contours of the product so it makes maximum surface contact.
  • Apply firm pressure and work the tape in with a squeegee as you apply it.
4Support the join
  • Apply the tape over a firm backing, such as studs, to achieve maximum application pressure.
  • If this is not possible, provide temporary support from behind with short pieces of steel stud or timber as you apply.
5Work in short lengths
  • Do not over-stretch the tape by applying it in long runs.
  • Keep to short applications at arm's length as you unroll the tape, and let it conform to the surface.
6Do not rely on tape for strength
  • Taping seals joins only. It is not a substitute for mechanical fixing where the join may be under stress or pressure, for example from wind loading.
  • In those situations use a more secure method of securing the join, carried out by a competent or professional installer.

For window and door penetrations the data sheet specifies the 72 mm width of QuickTape, dressed and sealed to AS/NZS 4200.2.
