ProctorWrap™ RW (Residential Wall) is a vapour permeable sarking for walls from Proctor Group Australia. It is a triple layer thermo-calendared polyolefin non-woven textile weather resistant barrier, bonded without adhesives, and is fixed directly to the outside of the frame before the cladding goes on. It meets the requirements of AS/NZS 4200.1:2017 with a Light Wall duty classification.

Where to use it

  • Behind residential brick veneer and lightweight clad walls.
  • In warm to cold climate zones where vapour pressure is typically higher inside the building than outside.
  • Bushfire-prone areas: meets the requirements for use in BAL regions 12.5 to FZ in accordance with AS 3959.

Performance

  • Vapour control: Class 4, vapour permeable (AS/NZS 4200.1:2017). Vapour permeance 2.983 µg/N.s (ASTM E96).
  • Water control: Water Barrier (AS/NZS 4201.4).
  • Air control: Air Barrier (AS/NZS 4200.1, ISO 5636-5), air permeability below 0.02 m³/(h.m².50Pa) (EN 12114:2001).
  • Fire: flammability index 1, low (AS/NZS 1530 Part 2). Thickness 0.4 mm.
  • IR non-reflective (NN) and electrically non-conductive.
  • Proctor states that it exceeds the NCC deemed to satisfy condensation management provisions.

Sizes we sell

1,500 mm x 30 m roll: 45 m² area, 40.5 m² coverage, 6 kg per roll. This is the standard RW roll, without the factory applied integrated tape of the RW-IT version.

Installation notes

  • Cover it with the primary cladding as soon as possible. Proctor allows no more than 6 weeks of UV exposure before the cladding is complete.
  • Install in accordance with AS/NZS 4200.2 and the product installation guide, with the printed surface facing outwards.
  • It can serve as temporary protection during construction, but it is not a waterproof membrane as classified by AS 4654.2. It can be damaged by careless handling, high winds or vandalism; replace any damaged areas before completion.
  • Proctor lists ProctorWrap HighTack Plus Tape (60 mm and 75 mm wide, 20 m rolls) and Proctor Plasti-Grip Washers (45 mm diameter) as accessories.

Good to know

  • Health and safety information is in the Material Safety Data Sheet available from Proctor Group Australia. Dispose of packaging carefully, as it presents a slip hazard.

Your job

Key rules from the data sheet

Summarised from the Proctor Group Australia ProctorWrap RW product data sheet (Aug 2025). Work from the full guide: it has the drawings and every detail. Open the full guide (PDF)

1Work to the standard and the full guide
  • Install to AS/NZS 4200.2 Pliable Building Membranes and Underlays, Part 2 Installation Requirements, and in full accordance with the product installation guide.
2Printed surface facing out
  • Install the membrane with the printed surface facing outwards.
3Protect it until it is covered
  • It is not a waterproof membrane (AS 4654.2). Cover it with the cladding as soon as possible.
  • Do not leave it exposed to UV for longer than 6 weeks.
  • Replace any damaged areas before completion.

The data sheet refers to Proctor's product installation guide for the full method. Proctor does not publish that guide online.

Window openings

Summarised from the Proctor Group Australia, ProctorPassive Window Detailing Guide: ProctorWrap and ProctorPassive window installation guide for timber and steel framing applications (Sept 2025). Work from the full guide: it has the drawings and every detail. Open the full guide (PDF)

1Cut the wrap at the opening
  • Start once the ProctorWrap RW has been installed onto the timber or steel framing.
  • Make diagonal cuts across the opening from corner to corner.
2Fold back the side and bottom flaps
  • Fold all flaps except the top flap back onto the framing and trim the excess, leaving the top flap in place.
  • At both upper corners, cut the wrap approximately 25 mm away from the window along the diagonal, then fold the upper flap up.
3Seal the bottom corners
  • Cut a length of YouByute Flexi Tape (stud width + minimum 50 mm) for each bottom corner.
  • Squeegee the split of the tape tightly into the corner while keeping half the release liner on, then remove the other half and adhere it to the jamb.
  • Stretch the tape and fold it onto the membrane, taking care not to stretch it more than required, and squeegee it down.
4Tape the window perimeter
  • Cut DriFlash Tape to the window perimeter length plus 75 mm for an overlap.
  • Apply it around the perimeter of the window frame with any overlap or join located at the head.
  • Fold the DriFlash Tape onto the membrane everywhere except at the head, remove the release liner and adhere it. Tuck the top flap of DriFlash Tape under the top flap of the membrane.
5Close the head
  • Bring the upper flap of the membrane down over the upper part of the DriFlash Tape perimeter.
  • Fold the flap at the head, staple it to the back of the framing and trim any excess material.
6Cover the upper corner cuts
  • Cut a 150 mm length of DriFlash Tape to make a 150 mm x 150 mm square, then cut it along the diagonal into two dovetails.
  • Fold and adhere the dovetails onto the perimeter DriFlash Tape so the cut in the wrap is fully covered. Repeat at the other top corner.

The guide protects the framing around the opening before the window is fitted. It does not cover window flashings or the seal between window and wrap; confirm those with the window and cladding manufacturers.
