Pro Clima high-performance building membranes are engineered to improve air-tightness and moisture control in your home or project to effectively enhance the energy efficiency, durability, and comfort of your home.
In this blog post, we take you through AirBoss Dan’s top tips for installing the Pro Clima Solitex Extasana system.
Pro Clima’s Top Tips for Installation
1. Gather your tools
To begin, ensure you have all your tools and materials ready to go. You will need your Pro Clima building wrap, Orcon Classic adhesive, a hammer, a staple gun with plenty of staples, flashing tape, PressFix, and a broom.
2. Prepare your surface
Preparing your surface is crucial for a successful installation. Clean the floor and other surfaces with a broom, removing dust or dirt around your working area. This will allow your Orcon Classic to have full adhesion to the surface.
Once your surface is clean, grab a hammer and remove any sharp corners or protrusions, as they could damage your membrane.
3. Mark the install height of the membrane
Mark the height of 1.47 meters using a measuring tape and pencil on both sides to help get the membrane straight during your installation.
4. Staple the membrane in place
(a) Hold the Pro Clima membrane up to your marked line, and begin stapling the membrane to the frame. Use around 5-6 staples. It’s important to staple diagonally so that you distribute the stress over the whole width of the staple.
(b) Before stapling the other side, ensure you pull your membrane taut for a good install. Once each end of the membrane is secure, go to the middle of the membrane pulling it down to create a V shape and make it nice and taut. Use another 5-6 staples to secure it in place.
(c) Repeat step ‘a’ at the bottom of the wall joists, stapling from the left side to the right.
(d) Fix the membrane across the top, securing it to each joist.
5. Use your tape to seal the gaps
To ensure your membrane performs correctly, it is important to seal the gaps with your Tescon Vana tape. Using the Pro Clima Pressfix, apply the tape to all areas where the membrane overlaps, ensuring no air can get through.
6. Check over your work
Once your installation is complete, make sure you take the time to look over your work and seal any remaining gaps, staples or protrusions that may have been missed.
