The type and amount of insulation needed for your home will depend on the climate, building construction type and heating/cooling systems used. Before you insulate your new home, you need to ensure it is air sealed and weatherproof for moisture control. The Building Code of Australia (BCA) has regulations about the R-value requirements of different parts of your homes. In most climate zones a minimum R-value of 4.1 is required, however this differs for cooler climates and alpine conditions where a higher R-value is required.

Upgrading R-values
The most important decision to make when buying insulation is what R-Value to install. Pricewise Insulation recommends installing a minimum of R4.0 ceiling insulation. If you live in Melbourne, Sydney or Adelaide we recommend upgrading to R5.0 or R6.0.
