Insulate your Home’s Underfloor for Increased Energy Savings
A well insulated building requires far less internal heating and cooling to maintain the desired temperature all year round. While ceilings and walls are commonly given priority, it’s not uncommon to find many homes with raised (exposed) underfloors, but with no insulation. There can be many reasons for this, including the fact that the underfloor area may physically be almost inaccessible. However it the underfloor is exposed to the outside air, it’s highly recommended to install a layer of R2.0 high (or higher) hi-density thermal insulation between the underfloor joists. This will further lessen the load on air-conditioners and any other heating or cooling appliances. Earthwool Underfloor insulation batts come in different R-values to suit practically every climate.

Modern Day Glasswool Insulation
Knauf produces a broad range of glass and rock mineral wool products for a variety of applications. As with all the products in the Earthwool range, which includes wall insulation and ceiling insulation, Earthwool Insulation is rot-proof, odourless, “non-hygroscopic” (doesn’t absorb air-born moisture), will not sustain vermin and for added good measure, will not cause the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria. It is chemically neutral, contains no impurities and comes with a 50 year warranty.
In recent years the Earthwool range has gained increasing popularity with both installers and D.I.Y. renovators due to its soft, low itch handling. The exceptional compression packaging means more coverage per bag, which reduces handling, transport and storage costs. One bag of R2.0HD contains 10m2 of insulation, which is almost twice as much as some other brands of insulation in similar size bags. Earthwool is less dusty and easier to cut and install than many other types of glasswool insulation.
