Insulation Foam
Rigid foam insulation is a versatile and durable product that can be used for various residential, commercial, and industrial applications. Many foam panels have high compressive strengths, are moisture resistant and provide long-term stability. EPS insulation and XPS insulation are two types of foam insulation.
EPS Foam Insulation
Foam insulation boards include; expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam insulation and extruded polystyrene (XPS) foam insulation. EPS insulation foam is a closed-cell structure that is made of expanded polystyrene beads which are joined together to create a cellular plastic board material. EPS insulation products have a number for benefits that make it suitable for both commercial and residential use;
•Excellent thermal insulation properties
•Maintains stable internal temperatures
•Reduces energy usage to increase energy bill savings
•Rigid foam structure allows for easy installation
•Can be cut to fit any space
XPS Foam Insulation
This is a closed cell extruded polystyrene insulation board, which means it is water resistant, and has high compressive strength. XPS insulation is versatile and durable which can be cut to any size and shape making useful in areas where other insulation types are not suitable. As XPS insulation is a closed cell structure it is unaffected by moisture and has the ability to retain its R-value in the presence of water. It has high R-ratings is also designed to maintain its R-value for the life of the building. XPS features and benefits include;
•High compressive strength
•High resistance to heat flow
•Low thermal conductivity
•Moisture and water resistant
•Lightweight and easy to handle
•Non-irritant
Open-Cell and Closed-Cell Foam Insulation
Foam that is classified as open-cell has added inflating agents that cause it to spring and compress easily, it also has a low density and is less durable. Closed-cell foams such as eps insulation and xps insulation are denser and solid in structure, which means it is more durable has able to withstand compression.
